Stages of Filtration
Stage 1: KDF85
Removes or reduces iron and hydrogen sulfide from water supplies. Also controls scale, bacteria, and algae. Redox media alloy functions as a catalyst to change soluble ferrous cations (positively charged ions) into insoluble ferric hydroxide, which can be easily removed with regular backwashing. Utilizing dissolved oxygen in the water, iron removal rates of 98 percent or better are common in laboratory studies.
Stage 2: Oxygen
Water flows through the upper cavity, making contact with injected oxygen (O2). This oxygenated water maximizes the removal efficiency of the multiple filtration stages.
Stage 3: GAC
Activated Carbon is highly porous and will assist in removing iron and sulfur residuals as well as neutralize the bad odors and flavors resulting from the aforementioned contaminants. Suffice it to say, this is the ultimate polishing stage.
Stage 4: Katalox
This hybrid media has proven to be one of the most effective methods of efficiently removing iron and sulfur from well water applications. This particular combination provides for efficient contamination reduction while requiring far less regeneration water. Our blended Katalox acts as a catalyst by accelerating the needed chemical reactions without being consumed or chemically changed by the reactions.
Stage 5: Garnet Mineral Stone
Water passes through a layer of natural minerals, removing suspended solids and sedimentation down to 10 microns. This allows for maximum water distribution and backwash efficiency.
Stage 6: Catalytic Converter
As water passes through the Catalytic Converter, it is subjected to a turbulent interaction with a catalytic core made of a proprietary alloy. The dissimilar metals and the water create a battery effect generating a very small electrical charge. This electrical charge effect creates a chemical reaction converting scale-forming calcium bicarbonate into a non-scale forming version of calcium called Aragonite. This maintains the healthy minerals while preventing the damaging effects of hard water scale.
As the process repeats itself, newly created Aragonite crystal formations are continually produced, thus preventing hard water (limescale) deposits. The process also continues to gradually remove any hard water deposits that may have accumulated in the past. This is due to the water now being under-saturated with dissolved calcium and bicarbonate, increasing its capacity to act as a solvent.
